MAYKHER like Maker or Make Her, is a profit with purpose, sustainable and ethical practise fashion company. We vow to work with makers, not machines, and to favour ethical employment opportunities and fair wages over fast fashion for fewer pennies. We are committed to helping harness the talent of women in the developing world, we want to ensure the greatness they were born with can thrive and flourish in even the most impoverished of areas. We’re proud to champion beautifully authentic craft techniques that are often over looked for cheaper, mass produced alternatives, techniques like block printing and backstrap weaving which are rich in history and culture and are skills passed down from generation to generation.

We believe in equality and equal opportunities for all humankind and use our store as a tool to address an area we feel particularly passionate about, education. There are approximately 130 million girls world wide out of education, often just because they’re a girl. A girls fundamental right to education neglected purely based on her gender. We’re focused on creating a sustainable solution to address this, investing at least 10% of our end of year profits into the education of young girls and women in areas of the world where they need it the most.

We are dedicated to educating people on the importance of slow, meaningful fashion. Ethical fashion that support the needs and well being of the planet and ALL the people involved in the making of every piece. Our values demonstrate our commitment to this:

Educate.

We believe that every child deserves the right to an education and know that education is valuable tool to end poverty for good. Sadly across the globe there are considerably less girls in education compared to boys, a serious issue to be addressed. Through their education we lower the risk of poverty, human trafficking and child marriage.

Empower.

We’re committed to the development of women in developing countries by supporting the safe and ethical employment opportunities and fair wages facilitated by the partners we choose to collaborate with, allowing these already incredible women to create better lives for themselves and their families in areas suffering great poverty. We love to support the harnessing of their talents and encourage the great things that these women can achieve.

Explore.

We’ve spent months and will continue searching for suitable partners who have the same moral values as we do. Our team stands side by side with our partners to drive a positive wave with what we know… fashion. We’re delivering a sustainable and meaningful approach to contemporary product because people always come before profit.

Environment.

We don’t agree with fashion fixes and processes that offer avoidable negative impacts on the environment. Where possible we use natural plant and vegetable dyes, keep wastage to a minimum, recycle and use recycled and avoid plastic and excess packaging. As a micro brand we continue to be forward thinking and to improve our processes as we can.
